ŠKUC Festival brings music, theatre, fashion, art, literature and more to Ljubljana’s Old Town, July 22-31

STA, July 12, 2022 – The ŠKUC company, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, will hold its annual festival from July 22 to July 31 this year, featuring concerts, plays, a fashion show, performances, exhibitions , literary events and workshops in Ljubljana. old City. All events will be free and feature established and up-and-coming artists.

The Dobimo se pred Škucem (Let’s meet in front of ŠKUC) festival will take place in the afternoon and evening in front of the ŠKUC gallery on the Old Square.

The music section of the festival will present the multimedia performance Plečnikova Misel (Plečnik’s thought) by Lado Jakša, a tribute to the architect Jože Plečnik (1872-1957). A photo projection of Plečnik’s works will be accompanied by live original jazz music.

Concerts by the Jakomini Jazz Trio and the A Cuerdas Trio, as well as performances by Martin Adam Stevens and Blaž Mencinger are also planned. The groups Atelje and Malamor, Samuel Blues and Miha Erič, Brencl Banda, Birds of Unknown, Martin Martian and the Universe and Chris Eckman will also take the stage.

Theater-goers can choose from three adult plays and an Eat Your Make-up drag show. Nine plays for children will be presented as well as three literary events for children.

Textile and fashion design students from the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Engineering will host an exhibition and fashion show titled Nature + Culture = Future. Young artists will showcase their work in a separate exhibition titled Artopolis: Sodobna Neskladja (Artoplis: Contemporary Incompatibilities).

As every year, many workshops will be organized for all age groups.

On the occasion of ŠKUC’s 50th anniversary, the festival will also present the company’s film production this year. Usodni Telefon (Fatal Telephone) by Damjan Kozole and the animation Socializacija Bika (Socialization of a Bull) by Milan Erič and Zvonko Čoh will be screened.

In case of rain, all events will be moved to Škuc Gallery.
