The Quietus | News | LISTEN: Ahrkh Wagner’s music for meditations

The upcoming release of the Golden Ratio Frequencies label will see GNOD’s AP Macarte and HUM’s Mark Wagner end up as Ahrkh Wagner for their first outing together since the 2016 eponymous effort on Tesla Tapes.

Title Music for Meditations Vol. 1, the release marks the first installment of what the label describes as the duo’s “on-going holistic sound project”. It follows Mark Wagner’s release of a cassette on Golden Ratio Frequencies, titled Prayer on the piano, during the summer. You can broadcast Music for Meditations Vol. 1 in full just below.

The roots of Music for Meditations Vol. 1 lie in the studio session Macarte and Wagner had in London in 2016 with the couple settling on an equation for their future work that “frequency + intention = cure”. They recorded the music featured here together in the steeple of St. Johns in Hackney Church in London with a minimalist setup of field recordings, vocals and looping tools.

The voices of sound practitioner Lani Rocillo and London-based Sufi Khaled Hakim were then added to Wagner’s studio in Hackney and the final version was then shared via YouTube. This release via Golden Ratio Frequencies marks the first time that it will be available to listen and purchase in full audio quality. It will be available through the label’s Bandcamp page from October 4.
