Supersonic unveiled the full music lineup for its 2022 edition in July.
After confirming appearances from Richard Dawson & Circle and The Bug & Flowdan, along with sets from Föllakzoid, Thou, No Home and more, the Birmingham festival has now added Divide And Dissolve, BIG|BRAVE, Holy Tongue, Pharaoh Overlord with Aaron Turner, GROVE, Orchestra Of Constant Distress and Shovel Dance Collective, among others, on the bill. Paul Purgas of Emptyset will also unveil a new work commissioned by Supersonic, which will combine the Radiophonic Workshop’s tape experiments with concrete music.
Supersonic also revealed last year that Jerusalem In My Heart and Decolonise Fest were on board as guest curators for this year’s event. Debut Radawn Ghazi Moumneh invited Palestinian producer/rapper Bint7alal, Belgian improv artist Farida Amadou, and digital media artist Jessika Khazrik (alongside 3D/real-time visual artist Nurah Farahat) to perform at the festival. Erin Weisgerber of Jerusalem In My Heart will also present a series of short films.
For their curated programme, the team behind London’s Decolonise Fest have invited Rachel Aggs from Shopping and Trash Kit, hardcore punk band Nekra, Zimbabwean artist via Ireland PRNCSS and DJ Awkward Black Girl – who will play a selection of rock , R&B, soul, funk, garage and disco records – to be released at the festival.
Several conferences, film screenings and workshops will be added to the program in the months to come.
Supersonic will take place from July 8 to 10, 2022. Find out more here.
